Does author of this quote should have right to review others content in drupal.org?
We must tread here carefully to exclude the asian sweatshop that does lip service to the community and to include the student who works his ass off. Whatever rules you create, said sweatshop will do token work to met them, I tell you.
Aren't American or European Shops expected to do lip service to community? It can happen only with Asian Shops?
I have objection to such comments used by a community member and addressed to fellow members. This comment might be influencing fellow webmasters to follow. A person with such a prejudice in mind would be doing in-justice to Asian community or might have been doing it. Such person should not have rights to review posts and take decision.

killes@www.drop.org commentedWell, until now it _did_ only happen with shops from Asia, namely those run by a specific person.
This is the background you need to know in order to put that remark into its right context.

techrobo commentedFor any visitor or someone like me who come across such content where listing of services on drupal.org is being discussed. Whatever be the context, the message tells different story, had there been the context it should have been referred.
I fail to understand how can a behavior of one company or an individual can be generalized like this and remarks like this can be made. More surprized as it is in webmaster's discussion http://drupal.org/node/317519#comment-1785726 and no one has found it objectionable. I hope no one else among webmasters share similar views.
If you look at traffic statistics (alexa) and you sum up the visitors by continents American, European and Asian the count would be almost be equal. I hope no discrimination based on region takes place in drupal.org and any such attempt should be turned down unanimously.

sudhirpatel commented@killes - can you give background. just by saying their is background does not mean anything. add some references.

heine commentedI think you are reading to much into it. There's no sign that chx ever did such injustice.
heine commentedBeg pardon.

chx commentedI do not have anything to add to killes' words maybe just this: if you spend your time reading the webmasters' queue then read the whole of it.

techrobo commentedI do see that the comment as targeted at a community. There isn't one shop in asia nor only one asian in the community.
Had this been one individual and everyone knew about it then the individual name should have been mentioned there.
This is a general comment on a community, this is not appropriate.
@chx this is written by you, so it would be better if someone else take decision on this.
@Heine: May be chx has not done any injustice, but the above statement does indicate chx's attitude towards Asians.
I would like this to be reviewed by few more webmasters who have not participated in the thread where @chx has made this comment

damien tournoud commentedchx is targeting a particular shop ("asian sweatshop" is *singular*), that happen to be in the Asian continent. chx doesn't speak about "the asians" or "the asian community". Re-read the sentence to get convinced.

WorldFallz commentedAs requested, as another webmaster who has not participated in the thread, I can understand why you might misinterpret the gist of what chx was saying, but I don't believe it was a racially motivated comment.
Lately it seems the world is so hypersensitive to pc-ness one can't even make a simple factual statement anymore. Damien is quite right-- i don't believe chx was commenting on all asians-- but a particular sweatshop located on the continent of Asia.
