Not sure if this happens in all cases, but at least with organic groups notifications, the first line of the message header (messaging module) follows directly after "((( Reply ABOVE this LINE to POST a COMMENT )))"

For example "((( Reply ABOVE this LINE to POST a COMMENT ))) Greetings Gregory,
A node has been updated...."

the "((( Reply ABOVE this LINE to POST a COMMENT )))" message should be the only thing on that line.

Gregory - are you using either of the HTML to text or the Plain text filters on your input format? If you're using one, can you try w/ the other and see if the same issue occurs? If you're not using either, can you let me know what filters you are using? Thanks.

shoot, i thought i updated this issue. I got help from Jeff miccolis, the problem was i needed to add the line break filter to the plain text input format, and put it above the html2text filter.
