Have links instead of checkboxes & radio buttons. Clicking on that link sets it and applies it. For radio buttons this is fairly easy since only 1 selection can be made at a time. For checkboxes put a + or - at the beginning of the link. Be sure to have some kind of visual indicator about the current selection. This would be a huge usability boost since users click once instead of twice (selection, apply button) to see the changes being made.

thanks for your quick reply on my young module.

1) Links should indeed prove no problem for radio's.
2) I'll talk with my designer to see if we can come up with some sort of form widget.

I'll put your request on my already long list. So it won't be happening overnight.

Links are a totally different kind of element then form elements. And as mentioned above links are rather difficult in combination with checkboxes. For now this will be a won't fix.
