Advanced Search?

Hi Forum
Does anyone have any suggestions how to implement a finer grained search function?
eg. Say I have a recipes site, and I've create a Recipe content type. I'd like users to be able to search only the recipe pages, or forum posts, or items tagged Vegetarian, or evreything. It would be best addressed with an option list.
Perhaps there are modules or other methods to accomplish this?

I see now that once you have performed a search, there is an "advanced search" option on the results page. The reason I thought it didn't exist is because the Drupal site (this site) does not present this anywhere.
Are there any configuration options for the advanced search?
