One very serious problem I see with the email invitation system for GoJoinGo which was also pointed out by one of our Beta testers is that the email is addressed from customerservice@ironweedfilms.com and the subject of the email reads something like, "Invitation to join the group "Superhero Cinema" at Ironweed Film Club" or "Invitation Result"
When I go through my Yahoo mail I have 100's of emails.. If I don't see a friends name or her email address, I throw it away.. In most cases a spam filter will probably catch it..
Here are my recommendations on how to address this..
For all inviation screens and functions (Inviting people to join the service, Inviting people to join a group, Inviting people to register for an event, etc.)
1) Before email address list a From field displaying the user's username in a field box with the default Ironweed email address listed behind the field in
bold like this. "[Username]" This way the user can change the name in the [Username]
field. This is the spec that Evite.com uses and its pretty straightforward.. When the email is sent the from field is aliased as "Your Name"
The same should be done here..
2) Under email address list a Subject field and display the default subject such as "Invitation to join the group "Superhero Cinema" at Ironweed Film
Club" as "[Username] has sent you an invitation to join the group "Superhero Cinema" at Ironweed Film Club" where the user can change this text to
anything he/she wants to.
It would be nice to replace the value [username] with the user's profile field name (e.g. Ironweed's profile for name is "Real Name"
http://beta.ironweedfilms.com/?q=user/2178/edit/profile), but this is a spec I will request from Trellon when we address this issue.

webchickOk. I think it would be good to fully spec out the invitations functionality in order to:
1. Determine what fields need to be available for the user to change, what values these should be changed to, who has permissions to change them, etc. and
b) Get all invitations everywhere all nice and centralized and working one way.
I think Evite would be a good model for speccing this out.
However, in the interest of time, what I am going to do in the meantime on this issue is make sure that all friend/event/group invites come from:
User's username
Then hopefully this can get downgraded to a 'normal' priority, and be worked on for future revisions.

sdemps3 commentedBased on what we have now, I'm downgrading this defect since we will address it fully with a more complete spec later..
