Bing has a very complicated verification system, so this module shouldn't have that configuration in the final version of 6.x-2.0/5.x-1.7. I've tried to add it to Bing, but failed to pass the verification process. If 6.x-2.x-dev doesn't make this work, it should definitely be removed from it.

For the verification, you need to use the Site verification module since we wanted that feature to be re-used by more than just the users of XML sitemap. It's already been removed in 6.x-2.x because it has no place in the XML sitemap module.
