Recently, most cron runs give a message like this:

Failed to notify pingomatic.com (site).

Anyone else seeing this?

It happens occasionally to me. It's just pingomatic being flakey. I remember there was an article about this in general and a php script to allow pinging to other ping servers if you wanted to but I can't find it right now. Try search.

I'm seeing lots of these errors

In my logs in both of the Drupal sites that I'm running. It seems to occur more often than not - I wonder if it's the Pingomatic server that's the issue or the code.

Ping-O-Matic Is Timing Out

The pingomatic.com service is timing out. It happens from time to time when the ping request load is heavy. Seems to last a week or so and then goes away. (They may do upgrades or end a DOA attack, who knows.)

Pingomatic Errors

Got the same errors in my log last night, again. I seem to be getting them everynight when the cron job runs. So, this morning I tried to visit pingomatic and had difficulty. Then I pathpinged them and when I got a good result on that, I ran the cron job again. It ran beautifully. I have my cron job setup to run in the middle of the night. I wonder if everyone does this thinking it will help server load. I may change the timing and hope that helps.

Me, too

This happened to me today, as well. (New site, just set it up, so I've only seen it once, and I've disabled the ping module. www.pingomatic.com is not responding (in my web browser)...

Ping-O-Matic

I believe they are upgrading their servers and when this happens they are offline. So, this is not a Drupal error - but a timing out issue on Ping-O-Matic.

Ping Module Failure in Drupal 6.6

Hi, I am trying to use ping module to automatically ping to ping-o-matic. However, it never worked in my site.
I am using drupal 6.6 and there is a bunch of failures almost everyday which looks as the following.

Type directory ping

Message Failed to notify pingomatic.com (site).

Does anyone know how to debug/fix this?

Is there any other drupal

Is there any other drupal module which pings to ping-o-matic.

I found multiping module but this is only recommended for only drupal 5.
