Description
The search box check box in the "toggle display" section of the zeropoint theme keeps resetting to unchecked every few hours. If I enable the search box, it will appear in the default upper right hand header position for a few hours, but then suddenly disappears. I need to go back into the theme settings and recheck the search box checkbox to get it to display again.
It's not a permission problem, as this happens for both anonymous and registered users. Instead, the checkbox is automatically being unchecked every few hours.

I know, I have the same problems as you are. Can you tell me what options are enabled in theme settings for search results?
#3
I have these enabled:
Display text snippet
Display content type
Display author name
Display posted date
Display comment count
Display attachment count
#4

You have to clear cache and go to themes - Global settings (admin/build/themes/settings) and be sure the search box is checked. Then do the same for 0 Point theme.
#6
Unfortunately, this did not work for me...

#8
May I have your url? I am asking that because I can not reproduce it anymore :( .. take a look at boaz.ro, for example.
#9
Certainly - it's http://jalt.org
But I might have solved the problem: Initially I had the theme in the sites/default/themes directory as I have a multisite installation and only wanted the theme to be available for my main (default) installation. However, that was causing a problem with missing files. I moved the theme into sites/all/themes, and so far the search box appears to be staying in place.

Unfortunately, I spoke too soon. What I outlined in the post above has made no difference; the search box is still disappearing after x hours.
#11
I will investigate this further. You can use the search block instead.

subscribing.

same here,
cron seems to get stuck when calling search, after more than one hour the process is killed and then the search box is gone. To make things more fun this does not happen at every cron run, just sometimes.
I don't know how to get more info about the error though.

Same problem

hi,
you have just to changes access rules, to allow anonymous users to search, now the block appear correctly after this modification.
#17
Drupal lets you decide which features are available to users/roles, search being one of them. So IMHO this should not be marked as a support request but as a bug since it interferes with the core functions in Drupal.
Do let me know if you think otherwise.

It happens for users with search rights. The search option is turning off at the theme level.
However, putting the search block in the banner section looks nearly identical and doesn't disappear.

I'm experiencing the same problem with a Zen-based custom theme.
