Job Description: Web Developer/Media Designer

The Center for Educational Design and Communication (CEDC) seeks a creative, highly motivated person interested in and experienced with web development and graphic design to join our small, creative and energetic staff. Candidates should share commitment and desire to work for positive social change.

Who We Are:

CEDC is a non-profit organization which provides a wide range of educational and technical communications support to non-profit, community-based organizations actively working for social justice. Our services include consultation, project development, print and web design, video production, photography, and conference facilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

• working as part of the Web Team to help plan, design and develop interactive/dynamic web sites for delivery on LAMP servers using open source CMS solutions such as Drupal and Joomla!
• helping to maintain existing web sites and provide tech support for partners with existing web sites/email (as needed)
• working with Art/Media Director on print design (from newsletters to annual reports) and logo development in a Mac-based environment using the Adobe suite, Quark, etc.

Skills:

Web Development:

• Demonstrated proficiency with XHTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and web standards.
• Experience and expertise with Drupal and/or Joomla! content management systems (applicants familiar with another CMS will also be considered, but preference will be given to those already well-versed in Drupal and Joomla!)
• Familiarity with open source software a plus
• Familiarity with SEO a plus
• Familiarity with social media a plus

Graphic/Digital Design:

• Experience designing for print and preparing documents for press (e.g. newsletters, annual reports, postcards, books, brochures, posters...)
• Ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of logo design and creating dynamic logos for a variety of partners and uses.

Video Production:

• Basic lighting, camera and sound skills a plus
• Familiarity with optimizing video for web/YouTube/FLV a plus
