in the german language we need more than author and author-all.
the language is not so simple like english. (had)
for the german language we need e.g. author-i, author-you and author-all
when i see my activity is not the same as when a other user see my activity

it's not clear to me how those tags would differ. could you provide examples?

i can give you examples in german:
when i look on my activites the author text works.
but i look on the activites on a other user the text is not correct.
example in german:
my activites: Du hast dich bei example.com eingeloggt. (correct) (author)
when i look other users activities: Babalu hast dich bei example.com eingeloggt. (not correct) (author)
all activites: Babalu hat sich bei example.com eingeloggt. (correct) (author-all)
The syntax is not correct for author
we need for author at least two fields for a good german translation
i can make screens when you want

i hope you can understand my bad english

I guess I'm not understanding when the three cases are used. Does this seem right?:
author-i : viewing my own content
author-you : viewing your content
author-all : ???? viewing who's content?

Babalu’s picture

author-i, is now on in your release author, can remain
when i look at the activities on other users it would be good to have author-other or author-he or something
author-all can remain. this shows all activites on example.com/activity

so, one case when i'm viewing the activities from a other user on his profile

author = my activities
author-all = all activities
author-other = the users activities on his profile what i'm viewing

understanding ? :)

No, I'm still pretty confused. It's not clear to me why you need the third form or even exactly how it would differ. If you could provide some example in English of the messages and why they need to be different that would be good.

I hope not to interfere (at least not in a bad way), but I speak German natively so I feel legitimated to.
@drewish: The problem is that the page that shows the activity of a user other than yourself in the German translation uses the 2nd person instead of the third. Example:

tstoeckler have tried to help

instead of

tstoeckler has tried to help

Hence, the German translation has to be corrected. (I am guessing that the problem lies with the translation because otherwise you would have noticed/understood.)
What Babalu (if I undestood correctly) is proposing additionally is, instead of repeating the username in each activity to use the personal pronoun.
So instead of:

  • tstoeckler ate an apple
  • tstoeckler drove a car
  • tstoeckler went to bed

you would have:

  • He ate an apple
  • He drove a car
  • He went to bed

@Babalu (sorry for the German, but I think it is appropriate for in this rare occasion):

The person who created the node." "Author"
Unter Author-all hat man und braucht man in deutsch nur eine übersetzung und das ist ja -tstoeckler hat den Blogeintrag erstellt-

I see now what you're looking for but what I'm unsure about is how you'd select the right messages. You'd need to know in advance that you were only going to have messages that were either all your activities or all other people's activities or a mix. The way the views support is currently setup this wouldn't be very easy.

Babalu’s picture

i think its easy to do.
now its so that author is for each user and author all for all users activities right ?
when you can do it that author-all is for all users activities and the users activities that i'm viewing on his profile
author is for my activities /mine only that i'm viewing

i hope i had explained it good that you can understand what i mean
