execute php code as action

hi,
I want to execute a small piece of php code as an action (triggered by a change in workflow status). Am I missing something (or is the D6 built in actions missing something?) I thought this would be easy, but havent found a way without writting my own action module (which I dont want to do as i'm not a programmer)
