hello,
what about give also possibility to display in the list also the main image attached to nodes?
that would make this already cool script rock!

How do you define "main image"? Also, that'd mean I'd have to make thumbnails for the images...

right, every post or article or node usually has a principal image (the large one displayed on top near the title). Maybe taxonomy could be used here to tag whic is the "main pic".
Then yes, in my mind i had these recent content blocks that display for each node the thumbnail, title, teaser and creation date......sweet! :)
PS: my main drawback is i am not motherlanguage and i know nothing about developing, being a graphic designer, terribly sorry about that :[
