Avatar Selection doesn't work

Hi, I installed AS 5-2.5 (and not a later version as I don't need JQuery update).

Administration block works fine (I can upload images and edit them), but the user part doesn't work at all. No matter if I choose "force users to select an avatar on user registration" or "when editing" or "enable random default" - nothing happens as if I didn't install AS at all. I even uninstalled imagecache_profile (thinking that these modules may not work properly together) - no effect at all.
