An email from StartLogic provided a link to StatCounter for Drupal, which generates copy and paste code for a custom block. I used to have a hosting account with StartLogic, but it was a nightmare!
Viewing the page about StatCounter, I was alarmed by a couple of items:
1. They instruct you to set your default input format to "Full HTML" and turn off the HTML Corrector filter. This could be risky if the filter is not configured. And why do they require the corrector filter off? Is their code non-standards compliant?
2. It appears that all this block does is count hits. There are a couple of excellent modules already for tracking visits with better features including Counter
I have not examined the StatCounter code, but I doubt that it provides features such as recognizing page views from the same IP etc.

Statcounter is Awesome
Been using it for years! It does recognize page views from same IP. Just don't follow the directions from that page. Instead install the Statcounter Module http://drupal.org/project/statcounter then you don't have to deal with input filters. Also you can choose the XHTML version of their code for standards compliance.
same IP count disareable?
is it desireable to have stats from the same IP counted? Google Analytics will tell you total views and "unique views"
~are you netsperienced?
