imagecache - I can't see image thumbnails created by imagecache

Can some one please tell me why image cache is not creating thumbnails or images of other presets? It looks like it is creating the images in sites/default/files/imagefield_thumbs folder. I think it is supposed to be under sites/default/files/imagecache/thumbnail. Is there a way to set the paths????

I have a problem inside of my drupal site, I can't get imagecache to reproduce my pictures once they are uploaded.

go to admnister>content type> and then manage fields

if your display settings have you outputting the actual image view, the images will be created as soon as the node is viewed, and all is well.

If your display settings are outputting just the paths or URLs to the image, the file won't even be created until the first time the URL is visited, so if you're doing a file_exists() check or something before you print out the img src="" of the file, you will see nothing, as the file doesn't exist yet because you haven't visited the url. Also try using the theme_imagecache() function, described in the README fiile in the module.
