User can only edit some nodes, when he should be able to edit all?

Hello,

I created a role for a user to be able to edit all nodes, not just his own. It seems to work except for nodes that are in the primary navigation. The original admin user can see the "edit" tab, but not this second user. The edit tab appears in the same location for all node types.

I even granted additional permissions to be able to see the content admin menu, to try and click edit from the "list content" page, and it returned an "access denied". Why can it only edit certain content??

What am I missing??
