I habe now read about 20 threads on this issue, and have neither seen a clear answer from the module developers nor a fix or patch that I understand and which makes sense.

So, the issue is clear:
The last version of Taxonomy Menu was published by the end of May. If I have a node open with the path node/xy. The taxonomy terms which are connected to the node in the menu made by TaxMenu are not active.

For Menu Trails or Context my menu structure is to big and open to use them per content type or so. Primary Term to Active Menu Item does for some reason not work an it is not free of bugs.

So my questions to the developers:

  • Is this issue solvable inside TM or has another core module be fixed?
  • In case of the former are you working on that issue? Or do I have to wait until Drupal7 / TM3 coming up for such a minor problem?
  • Is there any patch more useful than this: http://drupal.org/node/317753?

For me this is a classical point why I start to dislike drupal, since it is a module patchwork and in this quite important modules like taxonomy menu are the breakpoints. I am actually use more than ten (!) modules on my menu management, although I donnot have an all to complex site structure. Me as a only beginner in coding am wasting days on minor problems like this.

I am sorry if I open a panel for this issue where there already others discussed this. But I would like to have a clear answer on these questions before I go into reviewing rather problematic php patches one after the other.

I am mssing a place for conclusions if this problem is solved in an a way or not. I would suggest a more wiki based problem discussion inside drupal.org. I am reaaly sick of searching for nights in many different places for solving minor problems.

For me at least, the issue is not stated clearly.
The other issue referenced above was marked as "won't fix"

Almost half a year with no activity...
I will mark as "won't fix"
