Can Reg Codes be hidden after user joins?

I'm working on a site which uses private Organic Groups. While the Registration Codes are helpful in terms of allowing people to join specific groups more easily, but we don't want them to encourage other people to join.
To this end, it would be good to be able to hide the registration codes once the person's joined - so they don't appear in the My Account area, or the Invite Friends form.
Or if it's not a feature you want to include, would it be possible to point me at the relevant areas of the module to disable it? I can hack a bit of PHP if necessary, but I'm no developer.

the whole goal of the module is top make it easier for people to join a specific public group.
The code is currently pretty fixed in terms of showing the codes on the user profile for that reason

Thanks for this, but I've found that http://drupal.org/project/og_user_roles also provides registration codes.
