Most of these modules seem to be focused on limiting the creation of nodes. I need to be able to limit the access to nodes to a certain number. For example, users in role x, only get to view nodes of type y, 5 times.

Any ideas?

Interesting idea. It's not exactly what this module was originally intended to do, but it could be extended to do that. If you wanted to put a bounty on it perhaps someone will want to work on it.
