Are there any good ones in Canada?

If not, I'll go with Host Monster/Host Gator/AN Hosting/Blue Host in the States.... Always hear good/bad stories with any hosting company and is really hard to pick without hand-on experience. Guess there is no perfect shared hosting.

Thanks!

There is really few big brand Canada companies. You might need to pick one for the list in above.

In terms of complaints, as those are shared hosting, if you try to consume too much resource from them, your account will be high possible be suspended, this should be the root reason for the bad stories. So, if your site with traffic less than 200ip/day, go and sign up with those shared hosting, but if you have more traffic, you should purchase VPS hosting or dedicated server hosting.

I'm Canadian (Canadien) and had the same problem as you. I ended up just using a company from the states and payed the "conversion rate". This might be biased because I have an affiliate account with them but have a look at HostICan.com. I actually haven't used any other hosting company so I don't have anything to compare to. But at the same time being a newbie I found I didn't have any troubles with them. I even violated one of their terms of service which suspended my account. After a few emails they lifted the suspension.

My two cents is find a company you like and don't base it on if they are Canadian or not.
