gregglesI'm not sure this works as well.
For example, the Pacific Northwest Summit is not a "DrupalCamp"?
I've updated it to
usergroup|User group meeting
regional|Drupalcamp or Regional Summit
drupalcon|Drupalcon
virtual|Online meeting (eg. IRC meeting)
training|Training (free or commercial)
sprint|Sprint
related|Related event (ie. not Drupal specific)
Feel free to re-open if you want to discuss the details further.

highermath commentedWe are close.
I believe that the Pacific Northwest >Drupal< Summit was indistinguishable from a camp, and could be classified as such. Drupalcamps don't necessarily have to have "camp" in their name, although they must have Drupal in their name, or what's the point. If you don't think that Drupalcamp is sufficient, I would prefer "Drupalcamp or regional Drupal event". I think that Summit is a term that has little semantic value in this context.
DrupalCon is officially camel case, and I would like that reflected in the list.
Regarding the event content instruction, it might be overthinking on my part, but I feel that the current language unintentionally conflates the focus of Trainings and Related events. Trainings must be Drupal focused, and using jQuery as the example is somewhat misleading. I think that jQuery training would be acceptable in the exceptional sense that the whole of jQuery is very much a part of Drupal development, unlike perhaps PHP or even CSS, but I think that we should avoid having the exception prove the rule.

gregglesThe words "Drupalcamp or regional Drupal event" seem too similar to "User group meeting" - if I'm filling that out what's the difference between a "User group meeting" and a "Drupal event" - and aren't nearly all of these "Drupal events" ?
DrupalCon is not officially camel case. See attached logo from Boston.
For event submissions, I agree we should revise that text.
Here's the current:
