What Do I Do when a module doesn't work?

I have a serious problem with apachesolr module (the server won't start with the drupal configs)

So far I have:

* posted here (http://drupal.org/node/527186),
* asked at #drupal-support,
* re-installed,
* tried the dev version,
* posted to the solr-user@lucene.apache.org mailing list - although the problem is definitely caused by the drupal configs, not solr.

I've completely run out of ideas. Is this the right forum? Can anyone point me to another place to ask questions?

Any help gratefully received.

It seems to be related to the latest nightly builds of solr undergoing some changes.

I followed the links that others posted on the issue you posted, and there is a revised schema:
