Is there a way to put the "Login & Register" functionality in the header? I don't like the "user login" block. I would be greatful for any help! thanks!

I created an item in the primary menu that links to ?=user/login&destination=node. This gives me way to give users another opportunity to login. The downside is that it is visible even when a user is already logged in and causes an error if clicked.
