I am happy to put some effort into upgrading the module after the September 1st code freeze (before that the API may change).

It's not a pledge I could very well make myself. I personally write and maintain modules that I use myself, and I upgrade them when I need them. I think it's a noble effort, but not something I can promise to do.

Patches are gladly accepted.
