Also... would it be possible to have a checkbox on an ad that allows it to be set to 'never expire'? This could be made so that only administrators (or those with a permission) could see the checkbox, but it would be a great help.

I like this idea. This functionality would be to make some ads "sticky" (never expire) and perhaps also just to make some ads have an override on expiry (eg push it out a month or a year). Will investigate the most Drupal way to do this.

Cheers,

Miles

Wonderful! I will test for you :-)

One thing could be to integrate with the Scheduler module... for those with permission to schedule postings, they could just use Scheduler to set up a start time and end time.

Any update to this request?

Version: 6.x-2.x-dev » 6.x-3.x-dev

Admins have a less intrusive option: they can set the expire date as far as they want, up to 2050-12-31, which is basically the same.

A JS helper to position the date to that limit would probably be the cleanest choice. As a feature, this will only go into 6.3 anyway.

As a feature, this will only go into 7.3 anyway, not 6.x, which is a feature-frozen (stable) version.

I also would like this feature, but for now, I set the ad expiration to Jan 31 2050 and get an error: Invalid expiration date: before now. The reason for wanting this is simple. I'm running this excellent module on my own site to list my for sale items. Not using it to let others post ads. Thanks!

With this module end of life approaching along with Drupal 7 EOL, this issue is now moot.
