This might be a bug or a limitation of editablefields module?

Steps:
1. Create a content type and enable revisions
2. Add a CCK field to the content type
3. Enable editablefields for the above CCK field
4. Edit it via editablefields widget

Outcome: The revisions are not tracked

5. Edit the field via Edit form

Outcome: The revisions are tracked.
