"Subcriptions" link appears on node pages even when set not to

Even when Notifications User Interface settings (/admin/messaging/notifications/ui) are set to show subscribe/unsubscribe links only in block or not at all, an empty "Subcriptions" area appears on node pages. The attached screen shots illustrate the problem (set to show only in block, but subscriptions area visible at bottom of node page; subscriptions block also visible).
