I'm not sure if this is Page Manager or Panels at this point in the UI since they sort of blend together...

This is a minor UI thing, maybe too minor to change, but I got bit by it last night so thought I'd point it out at least. To recreate:

Add new variant
Check box for "contexts"
Click "create variant"

This is where it's a little confusing. There is this note on the page: "Before this variant can be added, it must be configured. When you are finished, click "Create variant" to add this to your page." But there is no "Create variant" button. There is a continue button, but there is also a save button at the bottom of the page. If you are adding a user page, the context is already there for you (which you don't realize in the page before where you check the contexts box) so you may look at the page and think, "Ok, has everything I need" and then just click "save" instead of continuing.

But clicking "Save" has the opposite effect at this point. It takes you back to the start and you lose what you've done so far. Granted, you don't lose a lot, but it's still disconcerting.

I was going to file this as a separate bug last night, but it seems like it's related to this, so I'm adding it here to give a little more info.

We have found that Selection Rule and Context settings made while in the initial Add Variant wizard never stick. They do work if you go back and edit the variant after you've created it. Here are the steps to reproduce:

1) Open System Task Node Add/Edit Form
2) Click Add Variant link
3) Choose either Selection Rule, Context or both checkboxes on the first screen
4) Click Create Variant button
5) work through the wizard using the Continue button at each step to advance. Add Contexts and/or Selection Rules
6) at the end, click Create Variant button
7) Select the variant from the tabs on the left and choose either selection rules or contexts, and you'll see that rules and context set in steps 1-6 aren't there. going back in and editing them will make them stick.

I spent about 20 minutes last night scratching my head about where the selection rules I had set had disappeared to!

Only difference from Michelle's post - we're on RC1, not dev.

I think that's a different issue... My issue isn't a bug; it's working as intended. It's simply confusing because people may not realize hitting the master save before finishing the initial create will cause them to lose what they have so far.

If you are going all the way to "create variant" and something isn't sticking, that sounds different.
