I'm putting together a site about Drupal that will provide info, tutorials, etc about Drupal itself and also serve as a way to promote the Drupal services I offer.

I'm do programming, not design, so the CSS and layout is still rough, but the basic look I'm going for is represented. For now it's best viewed in Firefox :)

Looking to get feedback. My goal is to have a very simple, useable, easy to navigate site.

disregard the actual content and link names for now, i want to know if the layout is acceptable.

thanks for your interest and help.

The orange is a bit bright for me, but it certainly is consistent with your overall theme.

I like the look of having only the right side bar (and not a left one) but the reason I might think twice about using it is that you may have to show large screenshots (of an install HowTo or something) that might be limited because of the bar being on the right.

I love the "under construction" graphic. I agree that those things were a bit cheesy but I liked seeing what new ones people would come up with.

The tabs are super! How do you do that? Being a Drupal newb I don't know, but I love using tabs...they keep everything organized in my mind about how your site is arranged. I can get from this page to that page with just a quick click on a tab...

I'm not sure you'll get any ideas from my site, but I'm doing something somewhat similar to what you're doing. My site is all about the Ubuntu Linux distribution and running it as a server (link below).

Good luck

Vince,
your site looks great and looks you are using some neat tricks? How you managed to get that different font for each of the post's title? SiFR?

It's called "Fancy" and can be found on the Drupal themes page.

You're right, it uses sifr and the only things I actually changed were the background color (comes white by default), the logo, and the node title font colors/backgrounds.

it's a rarely used feature called CSS :)

get firefox and the extension called 'web developer'. with it you can do all sorts of neat stuff, including viewing style information for any element on a page. it's a great way to pick up ideas for your own site.
