Same problem as described elsewhere, installed the dev release and found no difference.
Two users can edit the same document, both getting the "now locked" message and the first to save succeeds.

I got the same problem.
when I try to edit the node I land on the edit node page as normal, but the lock is not being set. Instead the "checkout_handle_request" is being executed 3 times in a row.
