Description

I am currently having an issue with the OG Read Only module for Group Admins that have created their own groups and made a choice in Group creation to have their "Group Posts" remain "Read Only" as is an option in the Group Creation by this module.

But, even if they choose to make their Group "Public/Private/Invite Only or Closed" it will not show up as an option in the Group Menu for Group Admins to be able to create their own "read only" Group Posts....

Let me explain, If the Group Admin chooses "Read Only for Group Posts", originally the Group Admin is suppose to be the only person to be able to make a "Group Post" and their members in that Group can not... The Group Members can still read the Group Posts that are only made by Group Admins, because the Group Admins have their Group Posts set as Read Only. But, it doesn't work that way on my site for some reason. On my site, the bug exists, where if a Group Admin creates a Group and sets Group Posts to be Read Only, that the Group Admin also loses the option to Create Group Posts from the Group Menu.

I am completely baffled. The Main Site Administrator still has the ability to Create Posts in these groups that have set their Group as Read Only for Group Posts. Which is fine, but why did the Group Admin lose their ability to make Group Posts to their group, when they set their Group to have group posts as read only?

When I set the option to turn "off" Read Only for Group Posts for that specific Group, then everything goes back to normal, where the Group Admin and that groups members can make Group Posts. But, thats not what the Group Admin wants. The Group admin wants to be the only person to be able to create Group Posts and does not want to give that as an option to their group members.

The Read Only Content Types should be working when it's group posts are checked in that fashion. But, it doesn't.

Can any one tell me what I am doing wrong? Do I still need to set permissions somewhere or activate something? I don't see any permissions for Read Only content types.

Current Config:

Drupal 6.13
Organic groups 6.x-2.x-dev
OG Block Visibility 6.x-1.2
OG Bookmarks 6.x-1.0-alpha1
OG Calendar 6.x-1.0
OG Forum 6.x-2.x-dev
Organic Groups Global Limits 6.x-1.1
Organic Groups Mandatory Group 6.x-1.0-beta1
OG Menu 6.x-1.3
OG Minutes 6.x-1.0-beta1
OG Read Only 6.x-1.0
Organic Group Statistics 6.x-1.0-beta3
OG Titles 6.x-1.0
OG Vocabulary 6.x-1.0-rc1

Permissions Set:

og module - administer organic groups - NO

Ideas:

I just realized that I am using the DEV version of OG Read Only. I am not entirely sure why nobody else has come forward about this issue, as OG Read Only can be a very important module. I will attempt to try the 6.x.1.0 version and I might try to add the patch as explained in "Default Settings for readable posts" by dereine. Then I will post my findings.

Version:6.x-1.x-dev» 6.x-1.0

Ok, I figured it out. I was partially wrong, but there is a critical bug. The OG Access Read Only that I was using was OG Access Read Only OG Read Only 6.x-1.0; as I had previously listed in my earlier post in this thread.

The bug exists where if you use OG Access Read Only 6.x-1.0 versus OG Module Organic groups 6.x-2.x-dev, then Group Admins will not have the ability to create their own read only group posts if they have read only set for group posts in their group creation.

Obviously, the OG Access Read Only 6.x-1.0 does not work properly with the DEV version of OG Module 6.x-2.x-dev.

Now, I went ahead and updated my site to OG Access Read Only 6.x-1.x-dev "DEV" version. Which works perfectly with the OG DEV version. So, Group Admins are now able to create read only group posts as intended.

However, I can not be sure if OG Access Read Only 6.x-1.0 will conflict with the Organic Module Alpha version of 6.x-2.0-rc3. Most likely it will because the OG module is based upon the 2x structure.

So, my guess is that OG Access Read Only 6.x-1.0 will most likely only work with OG Module 6.x-1.3.

Why I originally thought it was the DEV version of the OG Access Read Only was because, in my "Available Updates" on my site, it does not mention that there is even a DEV version of OG Access Read Only available for download. So, I just naturally became confused.

I would like to point out that others might fall into this same trap that I did, so the author of the OG Access Read Only module may want to inform others about the bug between versions.

Hi gensuperman,

For the moment, og read-only is expected to work only with OG 6.1.x.

The dev 6.2.x branch has been created to implement new features, not to make it work with OG 6.2.x. However, I will check if it is compatible with the new version before creating the official release to avoid confusion.
