When I tested in localhost this module works fantastically but the db was small, around 4mb.

I will like to know how it performs with db around 50mb or greater and is it appropriate to run on shared server without any resource overage issues?

Does the settings ‘‘Backup every: 0 Hour(s)’’ completely disables any attempt at automatic backup and enables to do backup only manually when needed ?

The module is fairly easy on memory so it scales quite well. Your biggest issue will be timeouts though. The 30 default will not be enough to backup a 50mb db. Also, make sure you have devel query logging off since devel stores all db queries in memory and a backup or restore generates a LOT of db queries.

Your mileage may vary, especially on a shared host.

If your host charges per MB for storage or has big overage fees, be sure to keep an eye on your backup directory and your temp directory to make sure you don't accumulate lots of data which you will be charged for.

As for your second question: yep, that'll disable the schedule.
