Description

I've been helping Wim Leers put together a tutorial for his Hierarchical
Select API. We put an initial version of it up at
http://drupal.org/node/532724 . However, we needed to put in some graphics
and I didn't have sufficient permissions to attach images. Wim did this and
had to change the input filter to allow & tags. And since I do
not have permissions for that filter, I am now locked out from editing the
node altogether (the "edit" tab no longer even appears).

Wim suggested I needed to join the Documentation Team to get the appropriate documentation admin
permissions to continue working on it.

Thank you,
Stephen

Hello? Anybody addressing these requests?

Please be patient. There are only a very limited group of people who can assign roles to users.

The preferred method for occasional editing of pages with format restrictions is to create an issue to have the format toggled.

really? Even when you co-wrote the documentation yourself? I have to post an issue to edit my own text?

I might be missing something here, but this doesn't seem like the best way to foster or encourage people to help out and would tend to cause documentation to instantly go stale the moment it's published due to the bureaucracy and possible latency involved in trying to correct or edit such posts.

What does one have to do to gain such privileges?

I have no idea why you would ever prefer to refuse somebody who wants to contribute to the documentation? Even if only occasionally. I do have the necessary permissions and I also only write documentation occasionally.

Ugh, well mostly because we are trying to limit elevated format rights generally, but I'll go ahead and do this. Hopefully when we get to a new site we can come up with better tools to let folks contribute more effectively without needing extra stuff. Doc rights granted. Enjoy. :-)

add1sun, I see your point. But yeah, I think something should be done to make it easier.

Maybe have a set of standards such as member duration, # of posts, etc. that would show the person being an active contributor that adds the user to an approve list. Then if one gets a request, the admin need only check if their name is in the approve list. Maybe a checkbox and submit sort of thing.

Sounds like there are still lots of gaps/opportunities for module development for Drupal admin support out there.

In any case, many thanks. I look forward to improving the docs we started! :-)
