For some reason fade in and out work fine but the slide up and down don't work at all...

When slide up/slide down is activated there are no messages displayed at all.

.. when i have the fade option selected it correctly displays messages... But when i have the slide animation selected no errors are displayed... I am using a custom theme so maybe my style sheet is messing with it im not sure.
