Hi, I have a business plan for which I would require a site with advanced features, which seems most suited for drupal. I am torn between developing a website myself with moderate features, then converting later to drupal, so I was wondering what an idea like this would cost to create, so I can begin to estimate prices and how long such a venture would take.
The main features would require:
Large community blogging,
including grouping members by distinctive categories, (e.g. countries, interests, e.t.c)
including Friend Of A Friend capability
including service to rate other members, leave messages e.t.c
Calendar within blog which relays to homepage calendar, (e.g. a global calendar)
Service to buy and sell specific files uploaded by users to their blog (through paypal)
And a development of basic website e.t.c
(would need to be unique)
(graphics could be done myself)
So, if you can, could you just give me vague suggestions on prices, or how much you yourself would charge for such work.

So far, I think it would be very cheap. What you are doing seems to be very easy with drupal. I think you sould read the handbooks.

the main issue I have, is that I do not have any knowledge of website design. We are really looking for someone to create a site in drupal from some of our original ideas.
We are trying to create a website for musicians to get together with blogging and distribute music.
So we would need a system where individuals sign up and then can control content on their own pages, whilst also contributing to the whole site, through reviews most listened to artists, newest members, gig calendars, e.t.c
whilst also having the capability to add friends, display who you are friends with on your blog, and who shares your interests, e.t.c
and if possible, people who like this also liked 'x'
The site would need to look professional and unique, much different to the default drupal themes.

Just been browsing the site, thanks for the link. I see what you mean, we're trying to produce more of a local based site and less on selling music, but yes, this is very similar to what we have in mind. Would anyone here be interested in helping develop such a site? and if so, what sort of prices/time range would we be looking at?

Curious why you never contacted us? If we have already built what you are looking for it seems strange why you would want to replicate it. Perhaps there is a way we can work together no matter what you choose to do development wise. Unless you feel your project is counter incompatible to our mission: FAQ.
