Automatic Nodetitles version 6.x-1.2 incompatible with 6.13 core?
Is this the case or have I done something wrong in my upgrade?

ehm, no of course that should work. What's wrong?

It didn't work on mine, either. I uninstalled and deleted the directory, then reinstalled the 6.1.1. That didn't work. I uninstalled and deleted that, reinstalled 6.12 and it works. Mystifying, but working now.

Hi there sorry I missed your question. On the modules page Automatic Nodetitles 6.x-1.2 had red X in place of the enable check box and an "incompatible with drupal core" message.
I replaced 6.x-1.2 with 6.x-1.x-dev and the problem disappeared. But was still worried about the message... having never seen such before and having just upgraded to 6.13 - I was worried that it may be indicative of a larger problem. (No other modules were affected)
