Automatic conversion ISBN-10 ISBN-13

Would it be possible to have a single ISBN field covering both ISBN-10 and ISBN-13?
ISBN-10 entries could be automatically converted into ISBN-13 (optionally the other way round)
as in http://www.isbn.org/converterpub.asp
