Finally I have a working blog site at http://www.kevincarbonaro.com
It was not that difficult to build, however I did encounter a few irritations, till I found a workable solution especially for the photo albums. If you read through my blog posts, you will get to know about the additions I made to the site every now and again.
The following is a list of currently used non-core modules:
- Administration Menu: Makes it easy for administrators to get to any of the administration options.

You did a good job ptuting it together, but it doesn't stand out. You should look into some themes and update the look. Make it personal!

I agree with you there, I need to make it more personal, however I have not found a theme which I like and have to say that there is a lack of Drupal 6 themes (or maybe do not know where to look yet).
I just bought a book on Drupal Themes, and I'm going to try my hands at creating one from scratch. Have already created the layout and graphics in Photoshop.
Hopefully I will like creating Drupal themes so much that I start creating some free ones for the public :)
