Print/Email icons appear twice on one page

When using a feature (in this case Quicktabs) where there is a page within a page, this creates two sets of Print/Email icons (I have PDF disabled at the moment). If I go to the admin settings (admin/settings/print) and select "Show on all pages except...." and chose the main page in question, then I get no links to Print/Email. Is the only solution to make one of the pages a different content type, like a Story, then disallow the Print/Email links on all stories? I hope not, as I have a TON of tabs with Pages within Pages.
