Description

Hi All,

I am working with Translations and want to translate website to Chinese, Simplified.

I have installed Node Translations and Translation Framework for this on the website. The goal here is to convert the "content on the fly" and get stored in the database.

When the content is published in English Language, I am able to see a link "Translations" at the bottom of the post. When I click on it, this display a pop-up showing the languages to translate and when i select Chinese, Simplified, the English text is not displaying the Chinese text correctly.

I have installed the po files for Chinese Simplified...

Any quick help is appreciated :)

Thanks
Narendra

This is an automated translation through google hence it probably will not be very accurate hence it was more of a way to get a partial translation where you could fix the pieces that are not correct.

If you hit the "Create Translation" link at the bottom it takes you to the node edit page then you can replace the text based off the correct information.

Hi Darren,

Thank you for your response.

If you observe the PNG image attached, it is not displaying at-least the Chinese characters for some text even, I want to be clear here that I am not expecting the 100% true translation.

I am ready to replace the untranslated text.

The problem is the when I click on "Translations" link it is not displaying the Chinese text even.

Let me know if I am doing any wrong in the configurations...

Again, Thanks for the response.

Thanks
Narendra

I guess it looks like your browser is not supporting the charset, maybe make sure it is UTF-8 other than that i am not sure what that could be to be honest have never utilized the simplified chinese translations before

Hi Darren,

Below is steps i have applied for translation. Please refere one by one and correct me if I went wrong anywhere...

-> I have enabled the locale and content translations module on Drupal 6
-> I have enabled Translation Framwork, Node Translations, and Google Translation modules.
-> I have added a lanuage from admin/settings/language/add
-> I have imported the translation using admin/build/translate/import
-> I have created a page in "English"
-> Clicking on "Translations" link have listed the lanugages
-> I have selected " Chinese Simplified" but it is displaying the results as show in the PNG file.

I have checked the Browser charset and it is set to "UTF-8".

FYI: When I directly using the Google Translate URL and submit my URL/home page or URL of any internal page, it is displaying the correct chinese translation. I am confused what might me wrong...

Please help me out if am doing wrong, today is very important day for me.

Thanks in advance,

Narendra

Hi Darren,

I am able to see Chinese, Simplified Characters for Built-in interface when I switch the language, but when I try to translate the Content/Data, it is returning junk characters instead of Chinese, Simplified characters.

The translation is not working for only Chinese, Simplified is not working... :-(

I have checked with French the translations are working good. The browser charset is set to UTF-8.

can you help me on find the reason for Chinese, Simplified?

Thanks
Narendra

Darren,

You were very helpful back on April 6, 2009 when you posted this:

http://drupal.org/node/373998#comment-1444868

We were having issues with Chinese translation then and you posted that the translation_framework-6.x-1.1.tar.gz would fix it. Currently you are at 6.1.2 and Chinese translation still does not appear to be working.

Can you please confirm that Chinese translation does in fact work for you on your end? Much appreciated.

Thanks,
Gregg
