I know this post is a little ... OK, a lot ... dated, but I'd be interested in collaborating, as I need the same thing.

I have no clue what, if anything, is different between iAtom and atom, but I would checkout the http://drupal.org/project/views_datasource module. If nothing else, maybe you can adapt the atom plugin as needed.
