While I think the advanced help module is a great concept, my practical experience suggests an alternative approach.
I believe help subjects and documentation in general should be stored in a Wiki or perhaps a more formal submit, (community) review, approval work flow, on the Drupal.org site. Otherwise, it takes too long for changes and additions to propagate into the module - it just begs for interactivity. Storing this information on our webservers isn't optimum because it may not get updated as often as we like.
I'd like to see each module have it's own wiki section on Drupal.org that the advanced help module links point to. I can even see the need to have more than one link - one for quick and dirty pop info boxes like we have now, with diagrams and very limited specific information that's immediately relevant to the task at hand, and another for more detailed documentation. But both should be hosted at Drupal.org.
The wiki should also have an associated forum for each module so users can share tips relevant to that topic. Finding relevant discussions on Drupal.org today is at best a haphazard task and usually an exercise in futility and frustration - important stuff is scattered all over kingdom come. Users end up posting help questions as support requests that often clog up the developer's in-box and aren't readily accessible to other users.
The wiki should include sections for use-cases, tips and tricks, common gotchas, and any other subcategory to help user's quickly drill down to their problem.
I posted this here because it seems no one who cares hangs out in the forums and there's no group that seems appropriate to post this in. Maybe it's too late to bother doing this on the current Drupal.org, but it should be considered for the new one.

merlinofchaos commentedThat's not what this module does.

merlinofchaos commentedThe place you want to post is in the drupal.org redesign group over on groups.drupal.org

druplicate commentedPerhaps I didn't explain it right.
When I'm in the Views UI interface, I have question marks placed there by the advanced help module.
When I click on one I get advanced help for that section.
I'm suggesting that clicking on those question marks takes you to a wiki page on Drupal.org rather than storing help topics on my server.
