Issue Summary

This is a little intimidating for the average admin, I think.

As a setting, this feels to me like the option Zen theme developers have of clearing the cache on every page load. Something they're going to be doing so often they might as well set it and forget it until development is done.

Consider moving "wipe index" to the performance page, perhaps in a "Developers" fieldset, and have a radio button for "Wipe index on reindex" plus a message that this is being done.

Changing to feature request, since it is.

#2

Status:active» postponed

This is a very interesting concept. In addition, I think it may also be important to more explicitly explain the difference between "Re-index" and "Wipe index". It will take a little thought to implement this in a way that it is not constantly reindexing, so I am going to mark this as postpone. I definitely see it as a feature being explored before the code goes stable, maybe when it is in Beta.

Changing to a task. To be consistent with the Apache Solr project, the buttons will be moved to the "Index statistics" admin page. That is where the percentage of content indexed is displayed, anyways.

Completed in commit #274656. Thanks for the usability testing! This is something the module desperately needs more of.
