I found two areas of the handbook with information on how to install Drupal for multi-site:

Probably they should be consolidated?

Good point. As a quick and dirty fix I changed the title of the stuff in Howtos to "Multi-site howtos" and added it to the multi-site section in GS. It probably could still use somebody streamlining and consolidating all the multi site material. At least it will be easier (and more likely to happen) if it's all in the same place.
