A friend of the owner managed to snag this gig for he and I. The original site was in truly sorry shape- a Microsoft Word type of website, if you know what I mean.
My buddy Shawn Lemmon put together the initial pixels in photoshop and passed it off to me to finish up and propagate to a brand new Drupal installation on my servers.
This site is so thick with Views and Panels that it's dizzying! Panels within panels within more panels :) It was good practice for future projects that will be heavy in those modules too.
The only challenge of this site was in making it totally easy to edit and manage for its owner, who doesn't have any experience with cms.. making sure to have not one hard coded bit in this project was the reason that so much of this is buried in layers of panel panes/pages. I needed to make sure that all he needs to do is add an image or a trail map PDF, or what have you, and it will show up where it needs to. I call it a challenge because I typically take... shortcuts on my own personal projects hehe.
Here's the lowdown on core and modules:
- Drupal 6.x
- CCK
- Embedded Video Field (for youtube video gallery)
- Google Maps Embed (for the contact page map)
- ImageCache and ImageField (for various thumbnail automation here and there)
- Ctools, Views and Panels
- Image and Image Gallery (tho with views these are quickly becoming useless)
- FCKeditor
- Mollom
- Nice Menus
- Pathauto
- Taxonomy Manager and Taxonomy Super Select (for nice categorization of trailmaps via views)
- Thickbox (for images and youtubes)
- GoogleAna
- jQuery UI Slider 1.7.2 (for the front page slider thingy)

Very nice! I really like the slider on the front page. It looks like you used Panels for the contact page as well. Any chance you could contribute back the Panels content type you made for the contact form? That's something a lot of folks could use and would make a nice addition to Panels.

Thanks Michelle! Aye, I used
Thanks Michelle!
Aye, I used Views or Panels for pretty much every page in one way or another. In the case of the contact page it went something like this:
Panel Layout = Two column stacked
Top pane is pulling a node named map, it's just a page type content with the added field 'Embedded Google Map' from the Google Maps Embed module.
Left pane is custom content with the following PHP:
Right pane is pulling a node named contact info, just a page with relevant information.
And then nothing in the bottom pane.
.
Ah, I guess you didn't make a content type for the form, then. We thought you might have and it would have been a nice addition to Panels, which is why I asked. That's something that will probably get in there eventually.
Thanks anyway,
Michelle

Excellent!
Off topic and completely unnecessary.

However, thanks for the bump on the showcase forums :P
