I am attempting to develop a new online art based community. Something similar to www.deviantart.com, but we want to implement a few features that deviant art is lacking at the moment. This project is actually a thesis project for me and a buddy...and just need something small, but would love to see it grow into something big.

Our main needs at the time are:

-We need people to be able to register an account on the site automatically, similar to Drupals forum registration...where the user can click register, fill in their information...and have some type of confirmation email sent to their email address.

-We need for each user to have their own individual page...again similar to deviantart.com or myspace.com where they can have a bio about themselves, a gallery (We we also need some way for them to upload their files), maybe a blog, a friends list, and a favorites list. And any other various things that would be good for a users personal page.

-Like I said above we would need the user to be able to upload their content. And each peice would need to be on a seperate page, with some type of response system under it, where people can give opinions or suggestions.

-An "In-Site" Search engine.

-A forum.

These are just the main things I can think of right now, Im sure there are a few more but these are the most important...if anyone can tell me if drupal would work for this type of site. Please let me know, any help/info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot,
Mark

No numbers?
user account default emails yes. Turn on profile module if you want to require additional information

ndividual blogs... yes, turn it on, standard. Indivdual pages not sure some have talked about it... um, guessing, buddylist and bookmark modules probably for the others

upload module. if you allow upload in blogs, you can turn on comments and turn on comments for blogs.

Drupal has built in search, 4.7's search is significantly better then 4.6.

You are using Drupal's built in forum to post your question. Additonal modules can modify and enhance Drupal's built in forums.

see www.drupalart.com for an artist community.
see http://www.terminus1525.ca/index.php?l=en for an advanced use of Drupal that is an art based community.
