I have been having a problem with comments. They are not showing up on the node pages. They were showing up until recently. I have looked, searched, and checked every setting. Everything is as it should be. Comments are in the database, they show up in a "recent comments" block (titles only), and on a comments page if "more" is clicked in the block. It has been a mystery for over a week, not sure exactly when it started. But I found the following in the log entries report.

I had a look in the log entries report and saw this odd entry: "unknown column." I looked at the detail of that entry and found this:

Unknown column 'u.signature_format' in 'field list' query: SELECT c.cid as cid, c.pid, c.nid, c.subject, c.comment, c.format, c.timestamp, c.name, c.mail, c.homepage, u.uid, u.name AS registered_name, u.signature, u.signature_format, u.picture, u.data, c.thread, c.status FROM comments c INNER JOIN users u ON c.uid = u.uid WHERE c.nid = 550 ORDER BY c.cid DESC LIMIT 0, 10 in /[example-path-to]/modules/comment/comment.module on line 992.

Core Comment module.

Can anyone decipher this?

Did you run update.php after updating?

Yes - I check "status report" after each update and run update.php

The comments have been missing though update.php has been run several times since the problem occurred.

There are now Many entries of "unknown column" - they all say the same thing, only the referring page is different.

Thanks

I re-installed 6.13, ran update.php, and cron. Comments returned to display normally.

I'm getting the same error after I upgraded to 6.16.

user warning: Unknown column 'u.signature_format' in 'field list' query: SELECT c.cid as cid, c.pid, c.nid, c.subject, c.comment, c.format, c.timestamp, c.name, c.mail, c.homepage, u.uid, u.name AS registered_name, u.signature, u.signature_format, u.picture, u.data, c.thread, c.status FROM comments c INNER JOIN users u ON c.uid = u.uid WHERE c.nid = 750 ORDER BY c.thread DESC LIMIT 0, 50 in /home2/okiefunk/public_html/modules/comment/comment.module on line 992.

I've run update.php. The message still appears whenever you try to post a comment.
