Users of the Cufon module are expected to keep track of this themselves, if they care to. Because the Cufon javascript is not included in the module, there's not much I can do to enforce that, except perhaps by calling the Cufon bug tracker and seeing if there's a new version.

I will leave this open and consider the possibility of asking the Cufon git repository about recent releases and notifying the user, but I wouldn't consider it essential to the module.
