However, I'm mostly installing it to see how I can recreate it using currently existing modules such as CiviCRM and the buddylist module mixed in with some phpsnippets. I think the myspace module is a good way to instantly launch a social networking site, but I think doing it with CiviCRM would allow much more power and flexibility. I'll post my results soon.
Please consider supplying patches necessary to bring bookmarks module to core level quality. Boris Mann has a recent post about some of the options and why they are not currently used yet.
I'll keep an eye. Next week i am going to write a module for creating an myspace clone. Thanks for pointing this. it will easier my work. I'll keep an eye.
Help. I have some trouble with this module. I think I installed it correctly, but, following the readme.doc I encountered some problems (this may be because I'm really new to drupal). It says "To be able to use the image gallery, you need to enable Images Support in Drupal. To do that, first login as administrator and go to:administration >> settings. you will see a section named “Image handling” " However, there's no such section. In the admin/settings/users section there's something about pictures, but I'm not sure if that's it, cause there's no mention of GD.
Furthermore, activating the module disables the my account page, leaving some entered content, removing every option
, and adding none. Is this supposed to be this way? Or is this not the place to view the module capabilities??
First of all, the myspace module says it's for version 4.6+ which probably means 4.6.x and not 4.7. Unfortunately, the drupalation site itself seems to have some problems with their configuration so I'm skeptical about the quality of their modules though I haven't tested it well myself.
As far as the image support, you must download and install the images module found on the drupal module download page. The section about pictures is not images but avitars, those little thumbnails usually of people's faces.
I too am trying to make a social network similar to myspace with 4.7 but I want to see what sangamreddi's module looks like.
So far I've been using the profiles module and a customized user template along with gallery2 and the guestbook module.
As for myspace, I put up drupal 4.6 and still have the same problem. But since it looks interesting to ae2005, and qwiki was toying with it, I think it is me that's doing something wrong. Maybe someone who had it working could tell me what it is?
