I always find it convenient to start from the beginning: Documentation -> Getting Started.
Building a drupal website
Hello Saurabh
I would advise you to first outline what you want in your website. Then, list all the modules you will need. Next, search drupal.org for modules that fits your need. install, and mod them. you'll easily find help in this website.
If you have any questions or you want to learn the basics of building website with drupal, feel free to contact me.
Thanks
Like I said, I want it to be
Like I said, I want it to be almost ( or exactly ) like www.qatarliving.com. So for that what all modules are needed?

http://drupal.org/forum-posting#effort
you need:
first of all, drupal uses themes or skins, I think you are looking for that web appereance start looking for your favorite theme here http://themegarden.org/ or inside the drupal web http://drupal.org/project/Themes
If you look the funcionality of your qatar site let me tell youo that is very simple: you must to enable some features of your dryupal site: forum blog story, start doing something, I learned in this way (and I am still learning)
Wow, what a lousy post for a beginner. (jump in the deep end)
Updated, many years ago had a different view.
It would be helpful to point folks to you tube videos, plenty out there.

What are you talking about?
First, drupal is not shareware (which requires payment by the way), it's open source licensed under the GPL-- both free as in speech, and free as in beer. There is nothing you have to pay for -- so what "shakedown" are you talking about? There's plenty of free documentation, screencasts, and all sorts of howto blog posts. I completely learned drupal without spending a dime-- I only purchased a book when I decided I wanted to learn module development.
And sharepoint? You must be kidding-- talking about $$$$, lol.
You should really buy a clue before you talk fud like this.
I found help at IBM, the drop is overused
This post tells little none on how to build the first site. So the title should be changed or modified. A minimum listing of modules and steps on how to code 'Hello World" should be discussed. How long did it take you to get through all on the nonsense and bits of hidden info?
I found help at IBM.com, it is painful to admit since I am an old DEC/VAX person. For those who are new and want straight talk descriptions, search for : "Using open source software to design" under the Sample IT Projects section. Yup I bought a book also, sticking to my old stand by the O'Reilly set. It is dry and dull , but jumps into the basics quickly.
Apologies on calling 'open source' the 'shareware', so why are the so many over lapping modules? Maybe coders on this effort should 'share' what they are doing before releases.
